I founded this practice to provide therapeutic interventions to individuals seeking life changes. On May 17, 2007, while conducting route reconnaissance at night, my Humvee struck an improvised explosive device (IED) (I.E.D.). This day forever altered my life and the lives of my four soldiers. I sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with bleeding in the occipital lobe and corpus callosum damage. The next two months were spent in a coma. When I awoke, I was in California, but I was unable to perform many actions. I couldn't even breathe on my own; I needed assistance to eat, drink, sit, and stand.
The subsequent years were spent in rehabilitation, where I relearned how to walk, speak, and function. I spent several months in the hospital receiving physical, speech, occupational/life skills, and talk therapy. I was a stay-at-home father who spent my days with my daughter, observing her development. Early in 2009, I grew restless and began searching for my next purpose. I was able to enroll in classes at the local community college and make progress toward my goal of assisting others.
I was able to earn my Master of Social Work from Eastern Washington University in 2014 due to my diligence and hard work, and I have since been assisting people undergoing transition. I have been trained to work with a variety of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) patients, including those with brain injuries. I am trained in specialty therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which assist individuals in processing trauma.
